So, how did WoodWerx Co. start?

A few Christmas's ago, my family and I decided we'd do a Secret Santa, but instead of buying gifts for each other, we would need to make them instead. Well, after falling into a near panic as to what I could possibly "make by myself" I got to thinking about a piece of artwork I'd recently come across on Instagram and I thought to myself, hmmm,  bet I could make something like that, too.

And so without ever having made a single thing out of wood in my life, I literally went out into my garage, rustled up a bunch scrap wood and set to work fabricating my very first piece.  After a few bumps and hiccups along the way, I was finally able to stand back and look at the finished piece...and it looked awesome!  That's when I fell in love with the art of working with wood.

What made you decide to turn your new-found love for woodworking into a business?

At first, woodworking was simply an outlet that relieved stress; I'd turn up my favorite music, sketch out a few ideas and then I'd begin turning those sketches into reality.  The process was amazing to me -- I had uncovered a talent that I never knew I had.  Over time it also amazed my friends and family, and not only did they become some of my biggest fans, they soon became my very first customers!

Where are you going from here?

This Spring I launched a Custom Mosaic Collection, which allows customers to create a one-of-a-kind custom mosaic for their space.

Even more recently, I've begun making furniture!  Dining tables, coffee tables, accent tables and console tables, just to name a few. Right now you can request one of these custom pieces by commission, so please send me what you're looking for and I'll be more than happy to provide pricing.

Wow! That's a lot. Anything else you'd like us to know?

I suppose I'll end by saying how much pride I take in everything I create, and that my goal is to fabricate one-of-a-kind, forever lasting pieces that folks from all walks of life can enjoy.

I also get a huge kick out of receiving pictures from my customers' showcasing how they've utilized my work in their homes, offices, and places of business. Seeing the pieces hung or displayed in their natural environments is truly one of the greatest feelings!
